1. Department of Prosthodontics

Overview
The Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge at IDEAS College offers treatments which pertain to the restoration and maintenance of the oral function, comfort, appearance and health of patients by the restoration of natural teeth and/ or replacement of missing teeth and craniofacial structures with a suitable prostheses. It specialises in implant, aesthetic and reconstructive dentistry. Restoration of oral function is done through prostheses and restorations (i.e., complete dentures, crowns, implant retained/supported restorations).
The department focuses not just on quality and ethical patient care, but also gives equal emphasis to innovative and student friendly teaching methodologies.

2. Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics

Overview
One of the busiest department of the college, the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics aims at increasing the lifespan of teeth. The department has a contemporary design with modern dental units, a radiographic room latest instruments & dental materials. Well organized & quality dental treatment procedures ensures a regular flow of patients for clinical training, skills development & research requirements during the clinical phase.
The department is endowed with a dedicated and experience faculty, all of whom are committed to excellence in education, patient care, scholarly activity, and research.

4. Pulp capping procedure

3. Oral Pathology & Microbiology

Overview
Oral pathology & Microbiology is a branch of dentistry concerned with the scientific study of the causes and effects of oral diseases, an understanding of which is essential for diagnosis, treatment and preventive programs.
The department is providing diagnostic services for all the departments in the college as well as for outside with referrals. The teaching program of the department includes lectures, practicals, frequent assessments and seminars along with numerous models and posters to provide basic knowledge of the subject.

Goals of the department:-
1. Develop skills in identification and carving of teeth along with age estimation using plaster models.
2. Identify dental anomalies through specimens and models.
3. Microscopic study of normal oral tissues and oral lesions.


4. Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Overview
Oral and maxillofacial surgery is a surgical specialty which involves the diagnosis, surgery and adjunctive treatment of disease, injuries and defects in head and neck face jaw and hard and soft tissue of oral and maxillofacial region.

1. Tooth extraction and disimpaction.
2. We have replaced the teeth by dental implants.
3. We have jaw, oral or facial cyst, tumor diagnosed, removed and reconstructed.
4. Have jaw aligned with orthognathic surgery.
5. Have facial and jaw reconstruction following cancer surgery.
6. Have facial bone realigned after facial trauma.
7. Have jaw joints repaired with TMJ surgery.
8. Congenital craniofacial malformation such as cleft lip and palate.
9. Presprosthetic Surgeries are done like vestibuloplasty, alveoloplasty.
10. Trigeminal nerve neurectomy procedure has also been performed.


5. Department of Periodontics

Overview
Gingival and periodontal diseases, in their various forms, have afflicted humans since the dawn of history. This specialty of dentistry encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases of the supporting and surrounding tissues of the teeth or their substitutes; the maintenance of the health, function and esthetics of these structures and tissues; and the replacement of lost teeth and supporting structures by grafting or implantation of natural and synthetic devices and materials.
Our main aim is diagnosis and treatment toward controlling infection and establishing an oral environment that is conducive to the overall health and wellbeing of the patient.

6. Department Of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics

Overview
The department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics was established with the goal of imparting advance education in orthodontics. Since its inception it has been an epitome of excellence in teaching and patient care.
The department is well equipped with all the latest materials and equipments. The patient are treated with Standard Edgewise, Pre-Adjusted, Tipedge, Lingual, Fixed Functional, Myofunctional, Self Ligating Appliance, Orthopedic Appliance with Latest Clear Aligners based on CAD-CAM technology.


7. Department Of Pedodontics And Preventive Dentistry

Overview
The vision of the Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry of Institute of Dental Education and Advance Studies (IDEAS) focuses on the oral health of the growing and developing child/adolescent and how oral health impacts the overall health of the individual, which in turn informs a multidisciplinary approach to prepare students for a rapidly evolving health care environment. The Department of Pedodontics is committed to clinical excellence, innovative educational initiatives and forging ahead with translational research.
The aim of the department is to impart comprehensive training to undergraduate students so that they acquire necessary knowledge, skills and attitude which will enable them to effectively and efficiently deal with pediatric dental problems.

UG Curriculum:-
The undergraduate training program commences in third year, and fourth year of BDS. Students are trained in diagnosis and treatment planning, preventive procedures like fluoride application, brushing methods, pit and fissure sealants, PRR and space maintenance etc. They also undergo training in various restorative and minor oral surgical procedures with the guidelines established by the dental council of india.

Specialized equipment and specialized treatment: -
The Department of Pedodontics is very well equipped with all instruments and machineries to provide complete perfect care to all child patients under one roof, all procedures are done under strict sterilization. Special Care Dentistry for mentally and medically compromised patients is also provided in the department under the guidance of specialized staff. Regular school dental camps are also organized to stress on the preventive aspect of dental diseases.


8. Department Of Oral Medicine, Diagnosis and Radiology

Overview
Oral Medicine, Diagnosis and Radiology is a speciality of dentistry concerned with diagnosis and management of diseases of the oral mucosa, jaws and the salivary glands. It also involves pharmacologic management of oro-facial pain and temperomandibular joint disorders, dental management of patients with medically compromised disorders and radiographic evaluation and treatment assessment for diseases affecting the teeth and the bones of the maxillofacial region.This is the first department where the patient visits in any dental institution. Infrastructurally, the clinic is well-equipped to comprehensively treat many patients at any given time. The immensely experienced and vastly qualified staff members are always eager to provide treatment to the affected patients.The department has qualified and experienced teachers who strive to best of quality teaching. The department has a rich collection of teaching materials in form of booksand seminars in CDs & print form. The valuable collection of special cases and radiographs add to knowledge of students and to the existing number of patients reporting to OPD. Under the guidance of eminent teachers’students explore territories which enable them to expand their knowledge to new horizons& acquire adequate knowledge, necessary skills and attitude required for carrying out all the activities appropriate to diagnose, investigate&plan a treatment protocol.

1. Intra-lesional injections for the treatment of Oral Submucous Fibrosis (Corticosteroids, Hyaluronidase& Placental extracts)
2. Treatment of Premalignant lesions and conditions withantioxidants
3. Treatment of MPDS with medication and physiotherapy
4. Use of alternative medicine in the treatment of stubborn diseases like RAS, Lichen planus, OSMF etc.
5. Excision of small tumorsand lesions
6. Biopsy like Incisional, FNAC &Exfoliative cytology for oral lesions and cyst.


9. Department Of Public health dentistry

Overview
Public health dentistry forms the basis of dental health care services and holds the key for developing awareness about the social aspects of the profession and the responsibilities towards the community among all those who are engaged in this profession.

The department aims at making the masses aware about the importance of oral health & prevention of oral diseases as well as providing an accessible, affordable & sustainable oral health care especially to the disadvantaged, remote populations. The department also tries to inculcate the importance of preventive procedures in the minds of Gen-Next Dentists so that oral diseases are averted & communities are protected from its adverse sequelae.

The department consistently puts the best foot forward in the direction of conducting various dental outreach programs (Screening & Treatment) as well as organizing of various social activities like tree plantation programs, anti–tobacco activities, etc., all for public welfare & community upliftment.

In a novel approach, special emphasis has to be laid on education of various strata of Indian society about the epidemiological aspects of oral diseases & conditions. Keeping this in mind, we have a fully equipped mobile dental van in which we provide dental care in the villages on door to door basis. We also have a satellite centre at Gohad. With the conduct of these activities, we strive to do our bit in changing the face of the society towards the better as also to create fresh dentists who are sensitive towards human values.
